Kirra began to deliver her pups around 4:15 this am and finished a little after 11 am. Although there were 11 puppies born, unfortunately one little boy was still born and we could not revive him. Also, one of the little girls is VERY tiny and we are not sure that she will survive. Right now, we are hand feeding her every hour, alternating glucose solution (honey and water) with puppy formula. She does not want to nurse so we use a small syringe. If she makes it thru the next day and begins to actually nurse, we think she will have a good chance.... so, prayers for her, please.
Kirra is UNBELIEVABLY relaxed about the whole thing....just as tho she had done this before (which she has not!). She carefully sorts them out and they are all carefully washed. We just need to be sure that the slightly smaller ones get the best nipples...but all the pups are very uniform....two larger ones are about 10 ounces and the remainder are about 8 ounces.... Little teeny is only 4.5 ounces tho.
We will post weekly.

Thoughts are with all especially the little one who is needing extra special care. So nice to hear about Mom as well! Thanks for providing this avenue of learning how they are doing. It allows us to peak into their fascinating world!
